Clifford James Loney (CJL) was born in St. Martin Parish on the Isle of Guernsey in 1880 and emigrated with
his parents to Toronto, Ontario as a young child.

In 1912, CJL married Catherine Elizabeth Ratcliff, better know as Bess.
